Jimmy Carter, clad in a black suit and tie, made a rare public appearance earlier this week at the memorial for his late wife, Rosalynn Carter.
After declining further treatment, the former president entered hospice care in February and was present to assist his wife in her final hours of life before passing away.
According to sources, Carter sat in his wheelchair, supported by his children, at Rosalynn’s memorial service at Atlanta’s Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church.
Prior to the tribute, Jimmy and Rosalynn’s grandson Jason Carter provided an update on his grandfather’s health, claiming that the 39th President of the United States would not be around for much…
Rosalynn Carter and Jimmy Carter had spent nearly their entire lives together, beginning when they were youngsters in Plains, Georgia.
It was natural, then, that the duo were together during Rosalynn’s dying hours on Saturday, November 19. The former First Lady’s death came as no surprise – she was 96 years old, after all – but her time on Earth has been greatly commemorated by multitudes since her death.
Rosalynn died on November 19 at 2:10 p.m. at her home in Plains, Georgia, according to sources. The former First Lady served in the White House alongside her husband from 1977 to 1981, but she continues to do humanitarian work through the Carter Center in the years since.

Unfortunately, Rosalynn and Jimmy’s health has deteriorated over the last year. Jimmy Carter began hospice care in February after declining medical treatment for a variety of health conditions.
With Rosalynn gone, the general belief is that Jimmy’s condition will deteriorate rapidly.
His grandson, Jason Carter, seemed to corroborate this to the New York Post before to Rosalynn’s funeral ceremony.
“He’s coming to the end, and he’s very, very physically diminished,” he remarked.
“He has been this moral rock for so many people, but she really was that rock for him.”
Amy Carter, the couple’s daughter, read a letter from Jimmy to his wife when he was overseas serving in the Navy during Rosalynn’s moving funeral ceremony.
“My darling, every time I’ve ever been away from you, I have been thrilled when I returned to discover just how wonderful you are,” he said in the letter. “When I see you, I fall in love all over again.”
Rosalynn Carter, rest in peace. Let us all pray for the Carter family.
